On the second Wednesday of each month, at 2pm, we hold our Monthly Meeting in Lichfield Guildhall. All members, and prospective members, are very welcome.
If you aren't currently a member, please let us know so that we can give you some information about u3a and its Groups.
Monthly meetings are free to all, and comprise of a talk delivered by an invited speaker, followed by refreshments.
There is no need to book. Visitors welcome.
Please Note – For fire regulations, seating is limited to 150.
We have designated seating on the front two rows for people with hearing, vision or mobility impairment. If you need any assistance, please tell us on arrival. We have members who act as Friendly Faces and they will help you. Please arrive early if possible.

Rob Elliott gave this month's presentation on The British Army in the 18th Century. He covered in particular the 1740s and 1750s. This period covers the War of Austrian Succession, the Seven Years War and the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion (he talked about Lichfield's small role in suppressing it).

Monthly Meeting - December 2025
Roger Butler introduced us to the wonderful world of inland waterways with dramatic engineering, unusual architecture, interesting landscapes, historic boats and lots of unusual and quirky features. He revealed the diverse and often little-known heritage associated with our 2000-mile canal network. There were tea and biscuits afterward; And as a special treat, mince pies.

Monthly Meeting - November 2025
This month, Ian Walford (Member) enlightened us on 'Dark Ages Drama in the Heart of England. Now living in Lichfield, Ian was Chief Executive of Historic Scotland. He has published 3 historical novels with settings in what is now the West Midlands. Locations include the Roman ruins at Wall, Offa’s Dyke and the Staffordshire Hoard.

Annual Showcase
On the 8th of October, Lichfield u3a held its annual Showcase, which replaced the normal Monthly Meeting. Monthly Meeting - August 2025
Pat Hall explained how ‘Life can be funny’. Although Pat does tell jokes, much of her talk was from her observations of everyday life and nuggets of conversations. She also writes funny poetry, collects oddities, bits and bobs and likes the audience to join in if they have a mind to!

Annual General Meeting - July 2025
Our Annual General Meeting was held on the 9th of July, very well attended. The picture shows our Chair, Jenny Hodgkins, presenting a bouquet of flowers to our "retiring from the committee" Membership Secretary, Judith Thorpe.
