This project was formed to respond to the National u3a challenge made by Gloucester u3a. The intention of the challenge was for u3a teams to submit robot constructions capable of moving a self-contained buggy around an arena, using intelligent or programmable devices. The robot needed to be capable of undertaking:
- Manually Controlled Challenges, robots must be wireless remote controlled without being tethered by wiring or any other means.
- Autonomous Challenges, robots must navigate without manual intervention using appropriate sensors to provide control.
The Robot Constructor’s Challenge Event Day took place at Gloucester on Wed 26th October 2022. Spectators were welcome to attend the event to "cheer on" the teams, (but entry may be restricted by the venue regulations).
In Lichfield, we formed a small, active constructors group, who designed the robot car, however we sought both active builders, and passive supporters who were welcome to show interest and/or attend the event. Our Objective was to represent Lichfield at the Challenge event and successfully undertake at least some of the challenges. (This was our first attempt!)
Interested - There may be future Robot Challenges?
